| Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and sexually transmitted
diseases (STDs) are the most common health care associated
infections. UTIs are accounting for up to 40% of all infections
and up to 10% of hospitalized patients have urinary tract
infections. STDs are also serious socio-economic problems
not only in developing countries, but also in developed countries
in Asia. The impact of these infections is very significant
in terms of cost, morbidity and mortality. One of the problems
is compounded by the spread of antimicrobial resistance among
the microorganisms. |
| |
| In recent years, there have been many changes in our understanding
of the pathogenesis, epidemiology, and management of UTIs
and STDs. However, we haven't had close relationship to discuss
about this important issue in UTIs and STDs in Asia for a
long time. This is why we would like to propose to make up
the research group for UTIs and STDs in Asia. |
| |
| The Asian Association of UTI & STD (AAUS) is the asian
only truly international professional organization serving
the Asian community of specialists in UTI & STD. The AAUS,
founded in Fukuoka in 2003, is open to all scientists who
are interested in UTIs and STDs in Asia. To join AAUS, click
Join AAUS or email to a membership
representative. |
